Sports Injuries

Many student, amateur, and professional athletes are sidelined with injuries that could be avoided with proper training.

Others sit it on the bench because their injury has not responded to traditional treatments.  And worse, there are some who play at a less the optimum peak and efficiency because their structural support system is impaired.  Their body is not moving properly.  Progressive coaches, athletes, and doctors are realizing that pain killing drugs or therapies are not the answer nor is a cookie cutter rehabilitative program that lacks customization necessary for full therapeutic benefit.  So, athletes tend to cover up the symptoms, and continue to play on an injured part that could worsen with increased physical activity and cause all sorts of problems later on down the road of life.

Dr. Harris's number one goal in working with you is to keep you safe from injury and speed up the healing process so that you may continue to do the thing that bring you happiness (for Dr. Harris it’s playing basketball and keeping up with his son and daughter). If you’re an athlete, morning walker, construction worker or just someone who suffers with pain and dysfunction I can help you improve the quality of your life.  Many common injuries incident to athletic activity such as muscle strains and overuse injuries (i.e. tendonitis) are preventable with proper assessment and training. Dr. Harris utilizes dynamic assessments to identify improper movements that if left uncorrected are very likely to result in injury.  Once identified, Dr. Harris prescribes a unique training program that integrates core training, chiropractic medicine and specific corrective exercises to keep you active and safe from injury.  In addition, soft tissue techniques such as active release technique and guasha are utilized to mobilize injured fascia and other soft tissues.

At Advanced Spine and Rehab I am one of the first chirorpractors with advanced certifications in corrective exercise and performance enhancement for athletes through the national academy of sports medicine - the elite training organization of the national basketball association trainers.

Doctors of Chiropractic consider a person as an integrated being, giving special attention to the spine, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. Chiropractic is a natural health care method that stresses the importance of keeping all the systems of the body functioning efficiently so the player enjoys peak performance, a minimum injury risk, and fast recuperative powers. We're committed to our patients and love helping them get healthy-and stay healthy.
